Two Couples With HIV Asked to Leave Village in Indonesia
Local villagers in the Babulu subdistrict of the East Kalimantan province of Indonesia asked two husband-and-wife couples to leave after a health official violated privacy laws by leaking their HIV-positive status, Jakarta Globe reports. Local AIDS activists said this incident highlights the lack of HIV awareness in the country, especially in rural areas. Local officials said they would meet with the villagers to prevent similar incidents.
