Attacks Against Gay Men Increasing in Kenya
A report by the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya (GALCK) reveals a growing number of recent violent acts against gay men, Gay Star News reports. The men have been slashed with machetes and beaten with hammers. At least one man has died as a result. Blackmailing rackets and threatened evictions are also increasing. GALCK claims the violence started increasing after a study disowned by the National AIDS Control Council alleged Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi had the highest number of gay men in the country. The group wants the government to protect the rights of all its citizens.
