Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch Compares Pussy Riot to ACT UP

The former mayor of New York City during the 1980s has compared the behavior of an all-girl Russian punk band to AIDS activists, Politicker.com reports. In a commentary, Ed Koch defended the punishment of the three members of Pussy Riot for singing protest songs against Vladimir Putin in a Russian Orthodox church because its leadership supports the Russian president. The women were sentenced to two years each in prison. He compared their action to when ACT UP disrupted services in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1989 to protest the anti-condoms stance of the Roman Catholic Church. He recalled that some arrests were made, but no one was punished. Koch said the degree of punishment could be argued—specifically, whether fines should have been given instead of jail time—but that the decision to punish Pussy Riot should be “applauded.”

I am not surprised Koch defended Putin as the establishment always looks for order rather than justice. Wotta jerk!

I sure the ex mayor Kotch is in bed with this Putin, for all know Putan is a super corupt leader/quasi-ditator with not an once of morals. Kotch must owe Putan a favor for his contract with the Russian. If only this ex mayor had the balls to speech the truth he would see that these women have more spunk than he will ever have. Their sacrify can change a nation build on bullies and greed for I feel sorry for the Russians that are living hand to mouth while Putan stays in charge as a gansier.

Did ed knew that Pussy riot didn’t desecrate the church but to insult its bishop who supported Putin
