Laura Bush to Visit Haiti, Mexico
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino announced Wednesday, March 5, that First Lady Laura Bush will travel to Haiti to highlight the United States’ commitment to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which funds AIDS initiatives in the country, Voice of America News reports (voanews.com, 3/5).
Mrs. Bush will visit an AIDS clinic in Haiti and an education program with the U.S. Agency for International Development. The two-day trip—beginning March 13—will also include a visit to Mexico to announce the launch of a U.S.–Mexico Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research.
