Red-Carpet Ready

by Kellee Terrell

Jack Mackenroth’s designer digs hit the Daytime Emmys.

POZ cover boy and Project Runway menswear maven Jack Mackenroth became a force in designer activism when he masterminded a stunning teal gown for Heather (The Bold and the Beautiful) Tom to strut at the 35th-annual Daytime Emmy Awards this past June. Tom, who earned her 12th acting nomination, had asked Mackenroth to design a dress and auction it off to raise awareness around National HIV Testing Day. It benefitted three AIDS organizations: amfAR, NAPWA and San Antonio AIDS Foundation. “I was very excited and nervous for this opportunity and this cause,” Mackenroth tells POZ. “When I finally saw the dress on her, I knew it was going to be fine.”  Bidders thought it more than fine—his creation sold for $700 on eBay.
