A proposal to legalize marijuana for recreational use will appear on the Colorado ballot this November, The Huffington Post reports. Voters will decide whether adults older than 21 will be permitted to use marijuana without a doctor’s recommendation. The state already allows the use of medical marijuana. Under the proposal, adults would be able to have up to 1 ounce of marijuana, or six plants, and the proposed law change would allow for the sale of pot. However, cities and counties would have the power to ban marijuana sales in their jurisdictions. The proposal would also direct lawmakers to put an undetermined excise tax on marijuana, allocating the proceeds to fund education.
