Election officials in Arkansas have approved putting aproposal on the ballot this November on whether to legalize medical marijuana,The Associated Press reports. Advocates of the measure seek to make the statethe first in the South to approve marijuana for medicinal purposes. HIV/AIDS,cancer, glaucoma and Alzheimer’s disease would be among the qualifyingconditions to purchase medical marijuana from nonprofit dispensaries with adoctor’s recommendation. The proposal would also allow qualified patients togrow pot for their use if they live more than five miles from a dispensary.
