The U.S. Navy has yet to implement a 2012 policy change allowing overseas and large-ship-platform assignments to sailors and Marines living with HIV, Stars and Stripes reports. The change also applies to personnel living with hepatitis B and C. Last August, the Navy secretary opened the assignments to personnel who are stable and have minimal medical complications. Personnel previously barred from such assignments had few options, which affected their ability to advance in their careers.
