Same-Sex Marriage Wins in Maine, Maryland and Washington
Voters made Maine, Maryland and Washington the first states to approve marriage for same-sex couples at the ballot box, The Huffington Post reports. Also, 52 percent of Minnesota voters rejected a measure to ban same-sex marriage in their state constitution. Minnesota already has a law banning it. In Maine, 54 percent voted for same-sex marriage. In Maryland, 51 percent supported it. In Washington state, 52 percent did. Data shows that in states where same-sex marriage is legal, gay men lead healthier lives and spend less on health care, especially costs related to mental health.
