The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has chosen Martin O’Malley as its inspector general, according to a Global Fund statement. He has more than 20 years of audit experience in the financial services sector and has worked in 17 African nations that receive Global Fund grants. Previously, O’Malley was group chief audit officer of the Standard Bank Group, which has more than $185 billion in assets and is the largest African banking group. He replaces Norbert Hauser, who served as interim inspector general. The inspector general works to ensure transparency and accountability.
