Review of HIV Law on Hold in Michigan
The Michigan Department of Community Health has put a yearlong review of the state’s HIV disclosure law on hold, PrideSource.com reports. A spokesperson said the hold was in response to an internal reorganization of the department, but gave no indication if or when the hold would be lifted. The law makes it a felony for people who know they have HIV to engage in sexual penetration without disclosing their status beforehand to partners. Advocates seeking a review of the law are concerned about the hold.
