Most MSM Worldwide Can’t Find Basic HIV Prevention
Initial data from a new study show that most men who have
sex with men (MSM) worldwide have difficulty finding HIV testing and
counseling, as well as free condoms and lubricants, according to a statement
from the Global Forum on MSM & HIV (MSMGF). Fewer than half of MSM
worldwide have access to the most basic HIV prevention and services. The study
also found that stigma related to homophobia was higher for MSM in Africa,
Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Latin America compared with MSM in
North America, Western Europe and Australia. More than 5,000 people
participated in the study. A full report on the study is expected in early
2011.
