An HIV/AIDS pilot program of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be expanded during the next five years with the support of Gilead Sciences, according to an NAACP statement. The Black Church and HIV: The Social Justice Imperative will reach 30 cities that account for nearly two-thirds of the epidemic nationwide. The program provides HIV training for pastors and faith leaders, seeks formal resolutions from churches to include HIV as a social justice issue in their activities, and facilitates HIV education into the required curricula of seminaries.
