NIH Gives Nearly $8M to 14 Innovative HIV Vaccine Grantees
First-year funding from the Innovation for HIV Vaccine Discovery initiative totaling $7.8 million was given to 14 grantees by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to an NIH statement. In the next four years, up to $34.8 million is expected to be distributed. The awards will fund basic research to find new ways to make a safe and effective vaccine to prevent HIV transmission.
