NMAC report

The National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) released a report titled Continuing the Advance Against HIV/AIDS: A Community Driven Health Literacy and Wellness Agenda, according to an NMAC press release.

The document includes a series of recommendations geared toward educating the HIV community regarding health and treatment, which will in turn help address the HIV disparities facing blacks, Latinos, the poor, and men who have sex with men (MSM).

Released on World AIDS Day, December 1, the report is the result of discussions that took place last year during NMAC’s two-day Health Literacy and Treatment Education Think Tank, as well as during similar working groups formed with the think tank participants.

“We must work together to develop a larger framework that can be used to address the health and insurance literacy needs of those living with and vulnerable to HIV, as well as issues related to overall wellness and the impact of social determinant on health outcomes,” said Moises Agosto, NMAC’s director of treatment education, adherence and mobilization, in the press release.
