Grants for HIV/AIDS Training of Nurses, Physician Assistants

New federal funding will train nurses and physician assistants on HIV/AIDS care, according to a statement by Rutgers University, which is one of five organizations to receive the support. The Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Rutgers a five-year, $1.5 million grant to expand the number of nurse practitioners trained in HIV/AIDS care, especially for minority, inner city and urban populations. Duke University, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Johns Hopkins University also received nursing grants. SUNY Downstate received a grant to educate physician assistants.
