Nursing Honor Society Honors HIV Prevention Innovator

The Honor Society of Nursing—Sigma Theta Tau International—honored Loretta Sweet Jemmott this week for her continued work in developing risk-reduction strategies among African-American, South African and Latino youth (money.cnn.com/PR Newswire, 11/6).

Jemmott, PhD, RN, FAAN, received the $15,000 Episteme Award—sponsored by the Baxter International Foundation—at the honor society’s biannual convention.

Her most noteworthy achievement is a program called “Sister to Sister HIV Risk-Reduction Intervention,” a 20-minute risk-reduction intervention program lauded for its cultural sensitivity and its scientific, evidence-based curriculum.
