NYC HIV Planning Council Task Force

February 4 was the first meeting of the "Board of Directors" Resolution Planning Council Task Force, which was created by the HIV Health & Human Services Planning Council of New York.

The "Board of Directors" resolution approved by the planning council required AIDS service organizations receiving Ryan White Part A funding in New York City to have at least one person living with HIV/AIDS on each of their boards of directors.

The city department of health challenged the resolution at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), which oversees Ryan White funds federally, on the grounds that the planning council overstepped its legal boundaries.

HRSA referred the issue back to the city on the grounds that it was a local matter that should be resolved at the local level.

The task force was then established by the planning council to provide suggestions on the future of the "Board of Directors" resolution.
