Sex Ed in 82 NY Public School Districts Considered Inaccurate
Sex education in many New York State public schools is inaccurate, incomplete and biased, according to a statement by the New York Civil Liberties Union, which released a report analyzing the sex ed materials from 82 public school districts. New York City was excluded from the study since it recently adopted a citywide sex ed mandate. Although almost all (93 percent) districts provided HIV/AIDS instruction, which has been required by state law since 1987, just more than half (56 percent) gave complete and scientifically accurate information.
