Beijing’s federal health bureau distributed 400,000 free condoms to 119 contract hotels of the Olympic Games and other hotels throughout the city to advocate safe sex and HIV/AIDS prevention, Xinhua News Network reports.

According to bureau party chief Jim Dapeng, condoms had been put in more than 90,000 rooms of 424 hotels ranked three stars and above. In addition, the bureau distributed 250,000 free HIV/AIDS information pamphlets in participating hotels.

Chinese organizers worked closely with the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the International Olympic Committee to provide HIV/AIDS information to participants in this year’s games. At the Olympic Village health clinic, roughly 100,000 high-quality condoms were available in addition to HIV prevention information in English, French and Chinese.
