A series of regional listening sessions have been held this summer on the implementation of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS), according to AIDS.gov. The White House Office of National AIDS Policy (ONAP) hosted the sessions, which were led by Douglas Brooks, the newly appointed ONAP director.

ONAP sought to better understand state and local efforts to implement the NHAS, as well as discuss how the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. the health care reform law, or ACA) is helping to implement the NHAS. The free sessions were open to the public.

The last sessions will be held in Chicago on Tuesday, August 5, as well as in New York City on Thursday, August 7, in Upper Manhattan and on Friday, August 8, in Brooklyn. Pre-registration is required.

Previous sessions were held in Jackson, Mississippi; Columbia, South Carolina; Atlanta, Georgia; and California in Oakland and San Francisco.
