Paris Hilton Says Most Gay Guys 'Probably Have AIDS'

In an audiotape, Paris Hilton is heard perpetuating the myth that most gay men have AIDS, RadarOnline.com reports. A New York City taxi driver who had the Hilton Hotels heiress and a gay male friend in his backseat recorded the audiotape.

Hilton says, “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS…. I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You’ll, like, die of AIDS.” Her comments were in response to her gay male friend, who earlier was describing Grindr, a dating mobile app for gay men.

A statement by a Hilton spokesperson said, “The conversation became heated after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex…. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays.”

UPDATE: In a statement to GLAAD, Hilton offers her apology: "I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families.... It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word. HIV/AIDS can hurt anyone, gay and straight, men and women. It's something I take very seriously and should not have been thrown around in conversation."

As a man who found out in 1984 that I was Positive, I was not diagnosed with Full blown AIDS until 1990. That Paris or anyone, is ignorant about the big different between being HIV Positive and Full Blown AIDS is disturbing to say the least. Equally disturbing is that so many gay men who fully well know the risks of unprotected sex, still do so. The dialog should be about why some have unprotected sex. My fellow black folk are being decimated by HIV/AIDS in higher numbers than any others. Sigh!

She is sorry that she got exposed. Nothing else beyond that. Not even a donation to an AIDS or HIV charity can make up for this. I don't wish her harm, but I will like her to go away and just disappear from public life altogether. Is not like she was a great example to begin with.

Whether said in jest or not, it is comments like these that help perpetuate stupidity, prejudice and stigma not just about HIV/AIDS but also about the gay community.

Well isn't Ms Hilton just a saint. She may say "I'm sorry" but she spoke her mind and we now all know how she really feels about gay men. And just when was the last time she had a test for HIV or STD's. Of course being the saint she is she has nothing to worry about does she!!!

this just proves that people need to know about HIV/AIDS. i have several female friends that say they wont sleep with bisexual men because of them probably having AIDS. I try to explain to them that ANYONE can be infected, and casual sexual partners aren't usually gonna tell you they are bisexual anyway. Plus, being rich and famous wont save you either.

Its the ignorance and derogatory nature of these comments that keeps stigma going. anyone having sex is a risk. paris probably hasent even had an hiv test.

I don't like Paris but she was having a private conversation with her friend and some nosy cab driver made it public. She should know better but she usually isn't coherent enough to know what's going on anyway. It's a waste of energy to even care what she does, says or thinks.

As a gay male who not only been positive for more than 25 years;and has formerly worked "The Industry" as it is called,thoes remarks are not only hurtful,but extremely ignorant.Yet, I believe it reflects what many people still feel to this day.Schooling is the only option.
