The Supreme Court of the Philippines has delayed implementation of the country’s first reproductive health law, IRIN reports. The law was to take effect by the end of March, but the court issued a 120-day delay starting March 21 to review court challenges. If implemented, the law would repeal all local reproductive health laws and provide free access to reproductive health services nationwide for all citizens, including contraception. Both advocates and opponents of the law have raised concerns. Advocates argue some provisions may restrict youth access. Opponents argue the law is unconstitutional.
