Not Enough Meds in PNG
The AIDS epidemic in Papua New Guinea could one day mirror that of African countries, according to the United Nations.
Infections in Papua New Guinea account for 90 percent of HIV cases in the Oceania region; still, according to UN officials, more than 75 percent of positive people in the country don’t have access to HIV medications.
A lack of information about the disease, as well as stigma and discrimination against HIV positive people have been said to fuel the epidemic.
