About 1,000 patients at a hospital in the province of Quebec, Canada, were urged by health officials to get tested for hepatitis B and C, as well as HIV, The Globe and Mail reports. Patients at the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in the city of Lévis may have been exposed since as far back as 2005 because of improperly disinfected endoscopic equipment. Despite disinfection procedures, a leak in the equipment may have contaminated the device.
