On Monday, April 8, thousands of researchers and other advocates are expected to join the Rally for Medical Research in Washington, DC, according to a joint statement by the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the HIV Medicine Association. Both groups join amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, AIDS United, AIDS Action Baltimore and nearly 200 others, including the American Association for Cancer Research, which is the founding organizer. The event seeks to raise awareness about the need for a sustained investment by the federal government in the National Institutes of Health. It starts at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the Carnegie Library across from the DC Convention Center.
