HIV-Positive Pennsylvania Man Convicted of Raping 12-Year-Old Girl

On December 2, Shaun Austin, an HIV-positive man from Bath, Pennsylvania, was convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl, The Associated Press reports. Northampton County jurors found the 25-year-old guilty of charges including statutory sexual assault and rape of a child.

According to prosecutors, Austin had unprotected sex with the 12-year-old girl in late 2007 and 2008. Assistant District Attorney Patricia Broscius showed the jury photos and videos of what she said were the encounters. However, Austin said he was the victim of a bitter feud and denied having sex with the girl.

Austin was also convicted on 96 counts of possession of child pornography in September. He will be sentenced in both cases on December 22.
