Five AIDS Organizations Honored With Red Ribbon Awards
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) awarded organizations from five countries with Red Ribbon awards on August 7 at the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City to honor their commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS, Xinhua News Agency/People’s Daily reports.
Rebecca Grynspan, UNDP regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean, said that the recipients “have demonstrated extraordinary creativity, courage and leadership in response to the epidemic and achieved tangible results with limited resources.”
According to the article, the five award-winning organizations are: the Center for Popular Education and Human Rights (Ghana), Women’s Sanghamitra Collective (India), Mashhad Positive Club (Iran), Consol Homes (Malawi) and Fortaleciendo la Diversidad (Mexico).
The Red Ribbon awards were first presented in 2006 at the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto.
