The San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) has named Robert Grant, MD, MPH, as its chief medical officer, according to an SFAF statement. He will head the creation of the first dedicated facility in San Francisco focused on the health and wellness of gay and bisexual men. The facility will be located in the Castro neighborhood.

Grant is the protocol chair for the Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Initiative (iPrEX) clinical trial, which provided key data the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) used to approve Truvada for PrEP. He has more than 26 years of experience in HIV/AIDS clinical care and research.
