Rutgers University Gets $10.1M From NIH for HIV Research

HIV researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey have received two grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) totaling more than $10 million, reports. The first award is a five-year $6.3 million grant from the NIH’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The work will advance the understanding of HIV’s structure, which could help develop new treatments and reduce drug resistance. The other award of $3.8 million is an extension for a second five-year period of a grant from the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The work will advance the understanding of HIV reverse transcriptase, which is the target of many widely used AIDS drugs. Professor Eddy Arnold, PhD, is the lead researcher for both awards.

This is interesting, however as a very simple man the words mean almost nothing to me other than the millions of funding to another University...
