Senate Committee Approves Funding for National AIDS Strategy
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted to allocate $1.4 million earlier this month for the development of a National AIDS Strategy, MarketWatch reports (marketwatch.com 7/17). A similar provision was included in a bill passed by the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee in June.
The funding would support staff, expenses and regional communications to develop and oversee the implementation of an AIDS strategy in the United States.
“We strongly believe the National AIDS Strategy will help reduce the number of new HIV infections in this country, improve support services and the quality of lives for people living with HIV/AIDS,” said Marjorie Hill, PhD, chief executive officer at Gay Men’s Health Crisis.

Well, I don't know. I thought we already had strategies in place . Not that all of them work or ever would. More Red Tape and hopefully this new Organization want eat at the funds as the other ones keep losing funds. We need to write congress and complain about loss of funds as it is. Thanks, Jerry

It's the same Ole story, more money going for nothing. I have been positive for over 25 yeas, and the longer I am a survivor the more is taken away.. It all looks good in print!!!!! The place the money ends up in is the doctors and directors pockets, while our funding & help is cut more each month...

What some people do not realize is you MUST have the structure in place and pay the rents and salaries of these people so that we CAN get the monies and programs out their to the people who need it. Without that what do you have??? Who passes it out and where? Do I stand on the corner and give it to any Joe or Sally that says "ha I need money and I am Poz" Structure is needed.

Again, another gov't agency eating up HIV monies. Why does the government need another agency to oversee the implementation of a fictional (at this time) AIDS Strategy? 1.4 million for staff, expenses and regional communications? They are not implementing anything, that 1.4 mil. is just to cover salaries, rent and supplies. Why not give that money to the South, where they lack resources and are being hit harder than other areas of the US? Wait I know! That would make sense...

"I recently met a guy who is negative. I did tell him about my status and he decided to kiss me anyway (we didn't go further than that). But a day later, he called and said that he actually had a mouth ulcer that time when we kissed and he was very worried. Asked if he can get the virus from me that way. For that moment, I felt so insulted and yet I felt so bad. It was my first time having a contact with a "negative" guy."
