The U.S. Senate approved legislation that extends HIV/AIDS funding under the Ryan White CARE Act for 30 days after the September 30 deadline, reports the Southern Voice.

Additionally, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions voted unanimously to approve a bill renewing the program for four years. That legislation must pass both houses of Congress by the end of October to go into effect.
