The decision to show a controversial sex education video at a U.K. primary school—including elementary school kids as young as 5 years old—has prompted the resignation of one of its governors, The Telegraph reports. In the United Kingdom, governors are members of a school’s governing body, which is similar to a school board in the United States. The Westbury Leigh Primary School in Wiltshire showed the Living and Growing video to its pupils, despite the fact that it was removed from sale to the public because it had received strong criticism for graphic scenes of cartoon couples having sex. Nick Gibb, the U.K. minister for state schools, was among the video’s critics. When several governors voted to show the video anyway, Keith Miller, a governor at the school for 12 years, quit in protest.
