N.J. Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Minor Who Has Tested Positive
A Trenton man was indicted in New Jersey by a Mercer County grand jury for allegedly sexually assaulting a young boy, The Trentonian reports. The boy has since tested positive for HIV.
Abdel Maldonado, 35, is being charged with aggravated assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The teen and his mother reported three assaults to the police after the teen tested positive.
According to prosecutors, the alleged abuse began in 2005 when the boy was 12 and continued until 2006, but the defendant claims he had consensual relations 55 times with the boy since he was 9 years old.
Maldonado is currently in the Mercer County workhouse on $300,000 bail.
