SisterLove Honors 20 HIV-Positive Women for Advocacy

SisterLove, an HIV/AIDS group for women based in Atlanta, recently held its fourth annual 2020 Leading Women’s Society Awards, which honors 20 exceptional HIV-positive women across the United States who have served as vocal leaders and advocates in their communities.

TV and radio personality Egypt Sherrod hosted the event with special guest, recording artist Tarsha Hamilton. It honored exemplary members of SisterLove’s Positive Women’s Leadership Project, which provides research, training, education and support to HIV-positive women. The project also encourages them to engage in prevention, policy and advocacy programs on local, regional and national levels.

This year’s awardees are: Myrna Betancourt (New York), Balinda Cunningham (District of Columbia), Valerie Daniel (South Carolina), Chloe’ Daviage’ (Maryland), Antoinettea Etienne (New York), Ruth Fordham (Virginia), Geneva Galloway (North Carolina), Deborah Glover (Georgia), Sabrina Heard (District of Columbia), Denise Herbin (South Carolina), Andrena Ingram (Pennsylvania), Margot P. On Friday, October 18, awardees and guests walked the red carpet and enjoyed a night of entertainment, food, drinks and networking, sponsored in part by Gilead Sciences and the MAC AIDS Fund. All proceeds from the event helped benefit SisterLove.
