Texas Advocates Doubtful of Needle Exchange Law

Public health officials in Texas are doubtful about the chances of passing a needle exchange law in the state, The Texas Tribune reports. Advocates argue that the law would save Texas money by reducing incidences of HIV/AIDS as well as hepatitis B and C, but opponents argue that the law would promote drug use. A needle exchange bill passed in the state Senate in 2009, but the item languished in the state House of Representatives.
