Earlier this year, Thailand’s government called on AIDS advocate and former public health minister Mechai Viravaidya to develop an AIDS campaign to target Thai youth. Viravaidya is the brain behind prevention projects like “Cabbages & Condoms,” a Thai restaurant chain that serves condoms instead of mints after dinner; he’s even plotted to introduce finger condoms to kids. He and his organization, the Population and Community Development Association, were awarded the $1 million Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Award for Global Health in May. We can’t wait to see what he’ll do with rubber next.
