There Was Magic is the title of a documentary on the series of major fashion shows to benefit people with HIV/AIDS. Ten benefits were held—the first in 1987—with an iconic designer for each show. Hollywood and the fashion industry, which were both seriously affected by the epidemic, combined their efforts for the There Was Magic events. Michael Anketell, the creator of the benefits, and Afonso Salcedo, the director of the film, have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to complete the project, The Huffington Post reports.
