Low Condom Use Among Young Heterosexuals in Uganda
A nationwide study shows that young, sexually active heterosexuals in Uganda are not using condoms consistently despite nationwide efforts to increase HIV awareness, PlusNews reports. As a result, officials are creating new ways to promote prophylactics. In the past 12 months, 36.2 percent of women and 52.9 percent of men between ages 20 and 24 used a condom during their last sexual intercourse. In addition, 39 percent of both men and women ages 15 to 24 fully understand how HIV is transmitted and how to prevent it.
