200 Ugandan Women Join Microbicide Trial
Over 200 Ugandan women have enrolled in a new microbicide trial
conducted by the Uganda Virus Research Institute and the Medical
Research Council. According to the African Microbicides Advocacy Group,
between one-third and one-half of all women of child-bearing age in
Benin, South Africa and Uganda are already HIV positive. The product
being tested in Uganda has no connection to the gel trials discontinued last month for being ineffective.
