U.K. HIV Group Recommends Improving Partner Notification
HIV testing and early diagnosis can be increased if health officials put more focus on contacting the sexual partners of people diagnosed with HIV and alerting them that they may have been exposed to the virus, according to the findings of U.K.-based National AIDS Trust (NAT) and reported in Pink News. The NAT report said up to 37 percent of partners traced and tested through partner notification were newly diagnosed HIV positive as a result. Partner notification for HIV has not kept up with technology, NAT said. Among other recommendations, NAT suggested that health clinics take better advantage of online technology for HIV partner notification.
