Prizila Vidal

Prizila Vidal
Prizila Vidal
San Diego, California
Positive since 2006

My name is Prizila Vidal. I am a transsexual. I found out I was HIV positive in 2006. I was fresh out of high school and foster care and I thought my life was over. Since then I have been advocating and fighting for HIV/AIDS, foster care and LGBTQIA rights.

I travel around the world to conferences to show people that I am proud to be who I am. I also teach classes to spread awareness and to stop the nasty stigma. I refuse to be a victim. I am a survivor—and proud of it!

What three adjectives best describe you?
Outgoing, friendly and sensitive

What is your greatest achievement?
Having my life turned in to a play and book (coming soon to theaters near you!)

What keeps you up at night?

Thinking of ways to help others and to change the world. What else can Prizila do to spread awareness?

If you could change one thing about living with HIV, what would it be?
The nasty stigma
What is the best advice you ever received?
Be yourself no matter what people say!

What person in the HIV/AIDS community do you most admire?
Marissa Smith!

What drives you to do what you do?
My messed up childhood and the abuse I suffered.

What is your motto?
Be me and to not care what people have to say about me.

If you had to evacuate your house immediately, what is the one thing you would grab on the way out?
My two cats!

If you could be any animal, what would you be? And why?
A Panda! They are so strong but yet so beautiful.
