New HIV Vaccine Is Safe and Boosts Immune Reaction in Phase I Trial

An investigatory vaccine from the Baltimore-based Profectus BioSciences is both safe in humans and prompts an immune response to HIV proteins, the Gazette.Net reports. In a Phase I study funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the HIV Vaccine Trials Network tested the vaccine at various dose levels in 60 HIV-negative adults in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Nashville and Decatur, Georgia.

The vaccine proved safe and immunogenic, with the highest dose prompting an immune response to HIV’s gag protein in five out of eight, or 62.5 percent, of study subjects.  That highest dose of the vaccine will go on to further trials.  

The vaccine uses the vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), a cousin of the rabies virus, as a vector to deliver HIV gag proteins to cells needed to produce an immune response.  Though the VSV can replicate in human cells, it had been weakened enough not to cause illness.

the trial is taking too long. y not speculate when it will reach the most desperate people. only if the scientists could see the many that die they will speed it up

I am HIV positive and on medication at Dreams center, Langata, Nairobi, Kenya, Where i have receiving my therapy medicines up to date. I have been reading these articles about HIV vaccine and i am glad for that developments and gains about what scientists and doctors are trying to find out for the sack of discovering the vaccine that can help to reduce or cure the suffering HIV LIVING PEOPLE. My question is how can we reach the concerned trial scientists or how can we join them to know better

so they are just awarded. people are dying everyday. make the vaccine & sell it to every country. cure millions of people then give them trillions of dollar. until then stop all this bulls*&t. we are dealing with this everyday. we are a criminal now. falling in love is a crime now. so make the vaccine & take as much money as you want from the government.
