Bill Clinton to Deliver Keynote at AIDS 2014

AIDS 2014Bill Clinton will deliver the keynote address at the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014), according to a statement by the International AIDS Society (IAS), which convenes the conference with other global partners. AIDS 2014 takes place July 20 to 25 in Melbourne, Australia. The former U.S. president will speak on July 23. Michel Sidibé, executive director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), and jurist Michael Kirby will deliver keynotes at the opening ceremony.

Other high-level speakers include: Ambassador Deborah Birx, the U.S. global AIDS coordinator; Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group; Mark Dybul, executive director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; musician, entrepreneur and activist Sir Bob Geldof; former U.S. global AIDS coordinator Eric Goosby; and many more representatives from governments and groups around the world.

At a July 21 plenary session, Tony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will address the future of science in the HIV response; Dybul will speak on investment; Helen Clark, administrator of the U.N. Development Programme, will speak on the post-2015 landscape; and Sean Strub, founder of POZ and executive director of the Sero Project, will moderate a debate the impact of new prevention options on disclosure and stigma.
