Empowered Community Grants for Women and HIV/AIDS
Four groups will get $20,000 each to advance community-level efforts focused on women and HIV/AIDS, according to a statement by AIDS United, which awarded the funds. The support is part of the Empowered Community Grants program, which is part of a broader effort to reach women in the United States about HIV/AIDS by singer and activist Alicia Keys called Empowered. She was an active participant in the selection process. The recipients are: the Creative Arts Team from the Research Foundation of the City University of New York; the Frannie Peabody Center in Portland, Maine; the North Carolina AIDS Action Network in Durham; and SisterLove in Atlanta.
