A proposed Ministry of Commerce rule in China would ban people with HIV from spas, hot springs and public bathhouses, Agence France Press reports. Spas and similar establishments would have to prominently display signs prohibiting “people with sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS and infectious skin diseases.” A UNAIDS spokesperson called for the proposal to be removed since there is no risk of HIV transmission in such settings. Local advocates have also expressed concern.
