The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has nominated Dallas Buyers Club for Best Picture, ABC News reports. The film received a total of six nominations, including Best Actor for Matthew McConaughey and Best Supporting Actor for Jared Leto, who both won at the Golden Globe Awards. McConaughey plays Ron Woodroof, an HIV-positive heterosexual electrician who died of AIDS-related complications in 1992 after illegally smuggling HIV drugs not approved in the United States and making them available to other people with HIV. Leto plays Rayon, a transgender woman with HIV who assists Woodroof. The other nominations include Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay.
