HIV Concerns as New Clinic Opens in Southern Tel Aviv

The Israeli Health Ministry has opened a clinic for refugees and foreign workers in southern Tel Aviv, JTA reports. The clinic will be able to treat 100 patients a day. Basic medicines will be distributed for free, but patients will have to pay a small admission fee. Since last May, 23 new cases of HIV were diagnosed in that part of the city, which is home to about 50,000 migrants. Most of the cases were among sex workers and drug users. In 2011, more than 5,000 people were living with HIV in Israel.
