Jessica Furtick

Lexington, South Carolina
Positive since 2005

I was two months pregnant when I found out that I was HIV positive, I felt like I had signed my death certificate until I started going to the HIV Clinic. I learned so much from there.

I’ve been positive for seven years now, and am just as healthy as can be. I have two beautiful children who are HIV negative. And I’m in a wonderful relationship with a negative man. I couldn’t ask for anything better then this!

What three adjectives best describe you?
Fun, outgoing, & loving

What is your greatest achievement?
Having HIV-negative children!

What is your greatest regret?

What keeps you up at night?
Life itself

If you could change one thing about living with HIV, what would it be?
To help come up with a cure!

What is the best advice you ever received?
All of it, honestly!

What person in the HIV/AIDS community do you most admire?
Sandy, my case manager

What drives you to do what you do?
My children

What is your motto?
Live life to the fullest!

If you had to evacuate your house immediately, what is the one thing you would grab on the way out?
My purse

If you could be any animal, what would you be? And why?
A cat! They are just lazy and love to be loved!
