Lack of Foreign Donors Threatens HIV Efforts in Mozambique
Mozambique is including a significant amount of funding for
its National AIDS Council, which oversees the country’s efforts against HIV, in
its 2013 budget, All Africa reports. The move follows a collapse in support
from foreign donors. The head of the council denied the donor pullout had
anything to do with allegations of mismanagement, and instead blamed the
international fiscal crisis for the withdrawal. The head of the council also
claims there will be no donor funding at all in 2013.
